Why I hate the movie 300!

I was excited to know that the movie was coming out. I thought being a history and film buff, I could totally get into it. I watched it, trying to follow the story. In the first few minutes they were historically incorrect! Has the filmmaker done his research? And if it wasn’t meant to be accurate for the Spartans, then their marketing people are totally selling the wrong story.

So why do I hate this film that made me walk out 10 minutes before its tragic ending?
Point 1
It had no real story.
What were they really fighting for, freedom? They kept fighting and fighting and fighting --- I don’t mind a great battle scene I have copies of the extended editions of all the Lord of the Rings. This film was Stunt-Happy, Whoop dee doo! They can do sword tricks!
Point 2:
They were speaking our vernacular in that time frame --- It was out of place. The old citizens spoke a certain way, and then the King spoke like he was in a New York City Construction site. Theron was speaking some accented English it was like watching Shakespeare in a jail theater production.
Point 3:
The Queen Gorgo was supposed to be this strong woman and she gave herself easily to that disgusting guy Theron (weren’t the Spartans mostly gay men?) It cheapened the cause of the Freaking WAR!!!! And what message was that giving?
Point 3 did it for me I was so disgusted and even though she kills the bastard in the end the satisfaction was voided.
Am I the only one out there that really hates this film????

This movie starred the pointiest nipples I've ever seen in my life. The nipples did not discriminate genders, they were pointy all around. So, it makes perfect sense that so many guys liked it.

One thing that people have to keep in mind, and Miz Reel I don't think you took this into consideration. Is that this movie is based on a Graphic Novel by Frank Miller. Hence the title Frank Miller's 300. If you wanted history, the Discovery Channel did a great documentary on the subject. I watched it and it was very informative. But this is a movie based on someone's work that contains elements of fiction. So, It's not suppoused to be accurate historically. Think of a comic book.
I could agree that the script was a bit weak, but the graphics, the FX, the music, the energy, the fighting, the cinematography and the editing made up for it. I enjoyed the film, It kept me at the edge of my seat.
Check out my films, in my profile, DannyCash. No where near 300, but one day this humble latino will have a film in the big screen.

I personally enjoyed the film very much. Cant wait for the dvd. Society since the begining of time has enjoyed violence, blood and gore. Prime example Cesar and the colliseum. People getting fed to lions and tigers.Or be-headings being public in the middle of town for even kids to see. Even now a days much hasnt changed with the ufc and other extreme fighting sports. Violence sells!!! If you enjoy lots of action you will enjoy 300. I do agree with alot of your points, but when i go see a movie i go to be entertained. Not to analyze it critically and do a book report on it. Very interesting read though. Thanks
