Details of Zoe Saldana Flick 'Avatar'
Posted on June 23, 2009
The details are scant, but considering that James Cameron’s Avatar is bar-none the most anticipated movie of the year, I’ll take it. Cameron showed 24 minutes of the as-yet unfinished movie, which will be in 3-D and feature groundbreaking computer technology, Tuesday at an obscure event in Amsterdam called Cinema Expo. Also on hand were Zoe Saldana and co-stars Sam Worthington (who stole Terminator Salvation from Christian Bale, and Sigourney Weaver.) Though the legendary (and secretive) director made reporters and expo attendees sign a promise not to report or talk about what they saw, details have already begun to leak, duh. Here's how Wikipedia describes the movie: Avatar is set during the 22nd century on a small moon called Pandora, which orbits a gas giant, and is inhabited by the tribal Na'vi, ten foot blue humanoids that are peaceful unless attacked. Humans cannot breathe Pandoran air, so they genetically engineer human/Na'vi hybrids known as Avatars that can be controlled via a mental link. A paralyzed Marine named Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) volunteers to exist as an Avatar on Pandora, falling in love with a Na'vi princess and becoming caught up in the conflict between her people and the human military that is consuming their world. Sounds very effing cool. Here are some of the comments from attendees and some pix from the screening and after-party, posted on MarketSaw.blogspot.com, and the teaser trailer, in case you are still not on to this movie, Cameron’s first in 10 years. "Jake gets saved by Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), a real N'avi with bow and arrow. Afterwards he wants to thank her but she gets mad. She says "You not need thank me, this shouldn't have happened. They shouldn't have to be killed if it wasn't for you." The next scene we see is Neytiri and Jake on a treeledge entering a Pandoran village where seeds of a sacred tree touch Jake. I mean touch. They touch his skin and then some fly off while others get absorbed by his skin." "Until now, all we saw was the base in 3D, mostly humans and now the 2 N'avi Avatars.
