Upground is the young vibrant East L.A. band that has developed a huge following throughout Southern and Northern California in the three short years they have been performing live. Their music is a blend of Ska, reggae, rock, and CUMBIA! It is sung in Spanish AND English. Their amazing horn section has been widely praised by everyone from the L.A. Times to Tu Ciudad magazine. Their talent has been widely recognized. Aside from winning the 2006 Sprint Battle of the Bands, Upground has opened for bands from Ozomatli to The Killers at E3 Show. Their music has also bought them to Mun2, MTV3 and Si TV's Jammin' where they met and played with Los Lobos. Their budding career has led to numerous milestones in a short period of time. This year alone they have showcased at South X Southwest and the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) in NYC and performed a sold out show at Hollywood's Knitting Factory. The year culminated with a music publishing deal with prestigious PEERMUSIC.
