Tony RomoPOSTED July, 03 2009 ![]() Ahhh, yes, Fourth of July weekend, a time for fireworks, BBQs, and…celebrating the United States’ independence from Britain, of course. How many people do you actually think will say over the weekend, “Man, I am so happy we’re no longer under British rule, who wants to chug a beer”?
POSTED June, 22 2009 ![]() Who wouldn’t want the body of a professional athlete? These people work out everyday, train in the best facilities, and represent the pinnacle of health and fitness…usually.
POSTED June, 16 2009 ![]() Thanks to the Orlando Magic not being able to hit free throws, lay-ups, or show any heart in an elimination game at home, the rest of the week looks pretty slow for sports. (Seriously, how many chances did Orlando have to make the Finals an actual series).
POSTED April, 08 2009 ![]() On Monday, the San Antonio Spurs shelved Manu Ginobili for the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his leg. To quote the great E.T. the Extraterrestrial, “Ooouuuch.” Losing Manu immediately transforms the Spurs from Western Conference contenders (albeit a distant second behind the Lake Show) to a team most b-ball pundits (including myself) think will be lucky to advance past the first round. Yes, S.A.’s fortunes ride that heavily on the Argentine guard’s health.

Yesterday on Michael Irvin’s radio show, Aikman criticized the Boy’s current QB on a couple of issues—most notably the Cabo trip Romo took in the bye week before last year’s playoff loss to the Giants. Sure, the 27-year-old has ancestral roots in Mexico and brought along some nice carry-on luggage (singer/girlfriend Jessica Simpson), but Aikman makes a good point: What were you thinking, Tony?

When I told a friend about my sports blog, one that focuses on Latino athletes, she joked, “oh, so you write about baseball” (she’s Dominicana, by the way). While our peeps do have skills on the ol’ diamond, like all other stereotypes the one about Latinos-only-playing-baseball is just flat-out false. Crazy enough, the most overlooked segment of Latin athletes participate in our country’s most watched sport – NFL football.
