Shakira

Most of you have seen clips of the latest single out by sexy Colombian Lebanese singer Shakira called "She Wolf," where she performs a sensual acrobatic improv inside a cage, did you peep the flesh colored leotard she's wearing? Chica's in shape, but you better believe she worked her butt off to look impeccable in her bare minimum wardrobe.

Shakira sure knows the perfect way to please her fans. Pant on her new song, “Loba” and call herself a wild animal. Well, perhaps it’s more geared to her male fans. The sound is very ‘80s (such is everything nowadays). Aside from her new song, Shak told Colombian newspaper El Tiempo she’s ready to be a mother.

If you only read the papers and watched CNN, you'd think Mexico was a border-to-border hellhole full of swine flu-infested people and flying bullets from drug wars. We know better, and so do Latin celebs, who are starting to wear these adorable t-shirts that read "Muñecas Como Estas Vacacionan en Mexico."

Various reports are saying Shakira will drop a new single this month and a new album later on. And boy am I ehhh! Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Shak Attack but reports also say the single will be available in both English and Spanish. Gag! Why do great/good Latin artists feel obligated to record in English? Yes, I know Shakira is a huge pop star now but her tunes still and will forever sound better in Spanish.  Just peep the videos below and tell me which lengua your favorite singer should stick to?

Let’s face it if you’re a Colombian pop singer you’re never getting out of the immense shadows of Shakira and Juanes. With that said, Fonseca has done pretty good for himself considering he’s got two of the world’s musicians as compatriots. Well, on June 9th The Grammy Museum in L.A. is hosting an exclusive Q&A and performance by the Colombian star. The Latin Grammy-winning artist joins an all-star list of past musicians including Nas, Annie Lennox, Brian Wilson and Tom Morello.

Shakira dumps her loser beau Antonio de la Rua and lands a Colombian college professor.

Psych! Happy April Fool’s Day, mi gente. De La Rua has a powerful macumba on Shak; she isn’t going anywhere. Below are a bunch of faux Latino musician stories—which I wish weren’t.

Uno,

Jesus

The Elephant in the Room: Daddy Yankee endorsed John McCain for U.S. president and simultaneously lost his barrio cred. Not only did Cangri fans have a WTF moment but MCs such as Pitbull and Fat Joe labeled him a “sellout.” Pit called it a “failed publicity stunt” and Joey Crack challenged DY to a debate. Thank God for all our brain cells it never came to fruition but DY’s image became as tarnished as an Illinois governor.
