Today marks the 14th anniversary of Selena’s untimely death, but rather than mourn the great Queen of Tejano music we prefer to celebrate her influence. With that said, we pose the question: who’s the next Selena Quintanilla? Let’s be clear, there will never (ever) be another Selena! How big was Selena’s star status you ask? Well, it was so gargantuan that a C-level actress, former b-girl played her on the silver screen and automatically became part of Hollywood’s A-List (sup J. Lo).

The Elephant in the Room: Daddy Yankee endorsed John McCain for U.S. president and simultaneously lost his barrio cred. Not only did Cangri fans have a WTF moment but MCs such as Pitbull and Fat Joe labeled him a “sellout.” Pit called it a “failed publicity stunt” and Joey Crack challenged DY to a debate. Thank God for all our brain cells it never came to fruition but DY’s image became as tarnished as an Illinois governor.
