The service, which will be watched by millions if not billions around the world and may become the most watched television event ever, will be directed by a Latino, Kenny Ortega.

I’m talking about Michael DeLorenzo from New York Undercover, one of my personal favorite shows and presently syndicated on Sí TV. Yes, this will be my last Michael Jackson-inspired post (for awhile) but in honor of MJ’s passing check out DeLorenzo in the music video for “Beat It.” I was a baby in the ‘80s so I’m a little confused about the era’s gang culture.

Jackson was the biggest star of my generation…our Frank Sinatra, our Elvis, our Beatles. Now he’s gone. His life is remembered in Latin America by presidents (Hugo Chavez) and also regular citizens. "I feel sad, as if a part of my life were torn away," Esteban Rubio, a 30-year-old Jackson impersonator in Mexico told the AP. "He changed the world. ... His legend begins today."

Regardless of your opinion of the pop singer, you can’t deny his influence on every aspect of pop music. Another icon dies yet his music will live forever.
