Marriage

I have never dreamed of getting married. Nope. I’ve just never been into it.

Funny thing is, it’s not the actual marriage part that I have an aversion to, it’s the actual planning of a wedding. I am not the girl who wants to walk down the aisle knowing I spent a year of planning and a small fortune on my big day. I was thinking more along the lines of Italy: maybe Positano, the beach, 10 friends and family, and renting a wonderful condo overlooking the ocean for a week. That sounds like a fun getaway that we will all remember, right?

I wrote about my friend Beth back in January. Not the same girl I wrote about yesterday. The one living with her boyfriend Carlos who she loved, but wasn’t IN love with like her ex-beau Mark.

Well, just a little update on the girl:

She and Carlos continued to date and live their mundane, passion-less life until Carlos finally decided to pop the big question. Then Beth realized she was making a huge mistake. There was no way she wanted to spend the rest of her life with someone that doesn’t make her heart skip a beat.

If you watched the Miss USA competition last night, you might have caught Miss California 2009 saying she believes that marriage is between a man and a woman after celeb blogger, Perez Hilton, asked her opinion on it.
Her answer obviously caused quite a stir among the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) set…and the supporters of gay marriage. Especially because it was the night after the Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards in Los Angeles.

Dear Sexy Siren,

It’s always refreshing when you speak to a guy who is perfectly happy with his relationship. I guess it’s just a reminder that you really can and will meet the right person for you.

Latina celebrities have it all—career, good looks, a sexy culture, and amazing engagement rings. And since I have all of those except for the last, I’ve decided I need to shop around (hey…a girl can dream right?).

It’s funny because I was never the girl who wanted to get married. The whole process of planning a wedding seemed too time-consuming and the thought of being with only one man seemed too boring. But now I realize, if I don’t get married someday, I won’t get that beautiful engagement ring.

My girlfriend Beth just got engaged to a fantastic guy named Carlos, but instead of being happy and excited for her big day, she’s feeling unsure about her decision. Why? Because she wishes she could marry Mark—her “soulmate.”
