Various reports are saying Shakira will drop a new single this month and a new album later on. And boy am I ehhh! Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Shak Attack but reports also say the single will be available in both English and Spanish. Gag! Why do great/good Latin artists feel obligated to record in English? Yes, I know Shakira is a huge pop star now but her tunes still and will forever sound better in Spanish.  Just peep the videos below and tell me which lengua your favorite singer should stick to?

Jennifer Lopez started work on her comeback movie The Back-Up Plan this week in Hollywood, which makes me happy, because it means that the Latina icon is one step closer to fully being back in the spotlight where she belongs. No more of this hiding away and taking care of babies! I joke.

This morning, I was thinking about the fact that the cast for Watchmen, which comes out March 6, is lily, chalk, snow white, featuring exactly ZERO Latino or black actors, in the age of Obama. And then I was thinking about the fact that this year's Oscars were almost completely devoid of Latino presence (Penelope aside), which means that Latino actors, directors and producers are still not getting anywhere near consistent amounts of opportunity and also that we are not producing enough top quality talent and work.
