POSTED March, 25 2009 ![]() Models and rappers go together like Joan Rivers and plastic surgery—they’re always on each other but the results are mixed at best. The ladies from the first season of our show Model Latina haven’t been immune to the carnivorous predator known as the rapper (Latin version is el reggaetonero). Below is a compilation of ML contestants in music videos. Enjoy! Latinas from all over the country were inspired by last year's launch of Sí TV's reality show Model Latina. Not only did it provide a missing platform for aspiring Latina models, but it proved women of curves and color can rock clothes and a runway just as good as any 6-foot guera. It was refreshing to watch a house full of chicas on national TV compete for a Q Management modeling contract, $10,000, and a feature in Latina magazine. Season I of Si TV's Model Latina came to an end last night with Jessica Caban chosen as the chica rockin' the most beauty, brains and culture. The 5'5" Bronx-based boricua got her start in the industry at 19, as the runner-up for Jennifer Lopez's model search and was later featured in a fashion spread for YM magazine. In 2002, she was featured in N.Y.-based merengue rappers Proyecto Uno's "Holla" video before hosting BET's Viva Americana for a year. After her parents told her about auditions, Caban made sure she was first in line. |
