Fat Joe

You gotta give it up for our Model Latina chicas; even in a recession they’re getting work. Shoot, even in a s***ty music industry, they’re still getting work. The latest ML contestant to get music video work is Ruth Rios in Fat Joe’s (yep, that Fat Joe) “Cupcakes.” Check it below.

The streets of Miami just got a little bit hotter. On March 30th, Will Castro, star of Speed Channel’s hit show Unique Whips and CEO of Unique Autosports, expanded his world famous car customization biz into South Florida with the opening of Unique Autosport South.

Not only is rapper Fat Joe aka Joey Crack aka...you get the picture...getting ready for the release of his ninth album Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2), which features a remake of Jimi Hendrix's classic "Hey Joe", but he's also thinking fashion with the launch of an economic-friendly shoe line called The Recession.

Below is the video for Fat Joe’s official first single “One” featuring Akon, from his upcoming album Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 out on May 19th. It’s a hood love story: Joe sways girl, girl’s mom hates Joe, Joe gets locked up and released (because he’s a rapper), girl gets pregnant…and they compare bellies. The End.

My email box has been nice to me recently. First up, it gave me an unreleased video by Mr. 305 aka Pitbull featuring Casely for “Defend Dade.” The track is off DJ Khaled’s We Global but for some reason never saw the light of day. It has cameos from Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Flo-Rida and some Haitians.

Last Thursday, I got the chance to hear the new Fat Joe album, Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2), at an exclusive listening session. It was supposed to be myself and a few other scribes but it ended being just me, Joey Crack, his publicist and his right hand man Macho. It was as Joe put it, “Well, we just playing this album for you...you’re the first to hear the album.

Big Pun’s nine-year anniversary of his passing is this coming Saturday (Feb. 7) and there has not been a Latino MC to take his place yet. I’m not saying there isn’t talent out there because there are a few (Omar Cruz, Joell Ortiz, and Term). Plus, take into account the recession and not even talented MCs are moving units. Yet, Pun always has a special place in my heart, pause. Peep my reasons below.

0-4. That’s how well I would've done if I had made picks for last week’s Wildcard games. Atlanta’s offense looked more balanced than Arizona’s; betting against Peyton Manning seemed about as smart as asking Lindsay Lohan to baby sit your kids; the Eagles were due to get run over by Adrian Peterson; and Miami over Baltimore…well, I’m a Dolphins fan, so let’s chalk that one up to blind, foolish love.

So, what would any sensible human do after putting up a fat donut over Wildcard Weekend? Make picks for the Divisional round and post them publicly, of course.

Tru-Life is a rapper? Yea, a pretty decent one too. But if you thought he just a street cat who liked to pick on studio gangsta rappers than you wouldn’t be wrong either. Just a few years ago he was Jay-Z’s secret Latino weapon, released a dope mixtape and was throwing NY rap on his back. Now XXL Mag is asking where duke is. Well, my homies at xxlmag.com found him.
