Buenas tardes. Yes I know, I know It's been a while since the last blog but I'm Back. Orgullo Cafe has been working on our first album. Yes FIRST.It's crazy because it's taken us a long time to get to the step that we are in right now. What happend to us is a very interesting story that I one day will probably write a book about and It will make a great movie! But anyhow, I have learned alot about myself and about how bad I want to make and maintain my music career.

The album is called CHANGA-ZERO. It is a way of saying "do or die." If you have ever played Handball, I think it's also called FRONTON. But in my neighborhood we call it BOLA or REBOTE. I chose to call the first album that because when I play BOLA I kind of relate it to the way I see my life. The ball will bounce and there will always be someone on the court to challange the winner. So one must use strategy, skill amd reflex while keeping the fun in the game to stay in the game and want to still play.

So today is the day when the Jammin on stage show is suppose to air. I called Chief and asked him to T-vo that s_it cause we got a meeting tonight and may not be able to see it. But I can’t wait to see it! That was a very cool day and experiene. anyways I just wanna say that if you see the show and you like Orgullo Cafe’s music you should really come and see us live!

Oh! shout out to the people at SiTv whom I ran into this week when we did THE DROP. I think that was very cool of the people at SiTv to remember us and consider us. THANKS!

Anyhow, regardless of what has happened since that J.O.S taping, we have been getting stronger. We have been growing and now that we have Mr.Monkey there seems to be a real good sense of balance in the band. Good energy has been building and you should really watch out for Orgullo Cafe because we are on the move once more. But this time it’s at another level of professionalism and also commoradity amongst ourselves. This J.O.S show is the begining of our television debut. Check it out and let us know what you think or what you don’t think. We’d love to hear from you and even better we’d love to meet you!…..con mucho respeto y apprecio a toda la gente que cree en nosotros…..s.pancho of orgullo cafe de boyle heights e.l.a calfornia!

    Back In Town…s.pancho

I’ve been gone for about 10 days. Up in Oregon and Washington doing some stuff for this company that I work for now. I stayed at a hotel and almost every night I went swimming in the pool they have (they kept it warm at night ). It felt really good getting away from the city. I got to miss my family and friends. I haven’t felt that way in a while because I’m always around them or they are around me. Anyhow the city of Portland and the cities along the Columbian river are very nice. When I would float in the pool just looking up at the stars (you can actually see them over there) I did alot of reflecting on my life and music in the water. The people I got to meet and see up north are really down to earth. It was different than being in L.A. It’s like there was no egos or cool front that needed to be put up in order to converse. I think it’s cause I chilled in the “paisa” part of town. I learned alot about how the people that go up there from Mexico to work migrate all over the NorthWest depending on what crops are harvesting and what fields need to work. One of the things that I liked was that at all the Gas stations it’s full service for all.

But now I’m back in town and right now I still feel alittle dazed from the drive back down here. YUP! 14 hours!! but thanks to energy drinks and sunflower seeds, along with a cool co-pilot I made it back to L.A. I can’t wait to go to the studio and pick up my guitar and work on some music. I got Ideas and inspiration while I was up there and I’ve been wanting to put’em together in the studio. I hope the felas didn’t make a mess while I was gone. And I say that because I always clean the studio when I leave because I don’t like walking into a dirty room to work on music. But that’s another blog that I will write later on. For now it feels good to be back in town. READY,WILLING,and DOWN!

Welcome to the first installment of Bobby Vega's Unseen Rock report where I'll hook you up with the word on the latest bands to ride the wave in this already over saturated ocean of music. Today's artist is Boys Night Out.

    BNO

These guys are from Ontario, Canada of all places. It's very cold there and that sort of reflects into their songs. They have been around for about ten years but i found out abouth them about 3 years ago when they were to open up for Fall Out Boy but i got to the show and had already missed them. After getting myhands on a track they had on the Take Action Tour compilation called "Medicating, I knew i was a big fan. They currently have 3 full length albums entitled "Make Yourself Sick" (2003), "Trainwreck" (2005) and their current release a self titled album that has really raised the bar.

    Boys Night Out New album

The new album begins with the song "get your head straight" which features lyrics that grab you right off the bat. "on the whole we don't talk much anymore, we might as well be blind and left to rely on signs and semaphore." Basically the album is full of thought provoking lyrics such as this. Singer Connor Lovat-Fraser has a knack for writing some very detailed lyrics and has one of the strongest stage presence Ive ever encountered.

    Connor

The band is currently on tour with Scary Kids Scaring Kids. and even though that band really sucks a big one I'd recommend coming to see BNO open up for those poseurs. And look at it this way, Youll get to beat all the traffic leaving the venue after seeing the opening band. Oh and buy or at least download their new album cause its one worth singing in the mirror to. and also add them on myspace where they have free songs and all the fixins'.

    Chill Mode,,,s.pancho

Aaaah! It’s one of those days when the clouds are all over the sky and the feeling is just like “CHILL”. Don’t feel like going anywhere or doing anything, just chillin. It’s almost like those days in winter when it’s raining outside and you just stay home and have sex all day. But this isin’t one of those days YET. Cause it ain’t raining and the sun will come out later on. I think it’s just my lazy-ass trying to compare and justify my feeling of not wanting to do sh_t today.

It’s all good though. I will get up and I will have a great day because I’m not gonna let the chill mode kick in. Nope! That’s something that I’ve already been a victim of. And believe me it can become very comforting and easily a habit. That is what I’m trying to stay away from, The Comfort Zone! 4-get-about-it! I’m glad that I’m writting about this because it’s re-enforcing the idea and struggle that I’m constantly trying to maintain in my life. I know that some people know what I’m talking about.

That is why I try not to affiliate myself with lazy people, especially lazy musicians. You see I know alot of talented fools who because of “life” and lack of balance don’t bother to put more time into what supposedly makes them happy and let themselves fall into Chill Mode. I’m not agianst taking breaks or backing away for a moment, Everyone needs to once in a while. “I’m gonna do this and that” and BAM! nothing. Just talk and no action. You see to me it feels like the easiest thing to do is find a reason not to do sh_t. And even easier is finding the people who will do it with you. I’m TRYING to do the opposite. And I do mean TRYING.

I once had the privilege of working for a very successful man, who ran a great company. Whenever I had the opportunity I would “pick his brain” (ideas of success and how to maintain), he told me something that I will never forget. “Eagles never eat with turkeys, they fly with eagles and hunt with eagles”. That made perfect sense. So now I’m gonna “fly” away into a new day and try to do and think like an EAGLE not like a TURKEY.

Quote the words of Mr. James Brown, “I FEEL GOOD!”///////s.pancho of orgullo cafe de boyle heights, california. east l.a
