    Get your Biz right!

All up and coming musicians, make sure before yourself as an artist or band sign anything to register yourselves with the U.S. government. Contact an entertainment lawyer and set up a limited liability company or corporation. There will be all kinds of benefits with taxes and things that come along with it. With the setup of yourself or group this will make sure within your group there is a decision making hierarchy and chain of command. This will also make everyone in the group responsible for the promotion and growth of the group on a financial level. If these steps are taken your money and well being as an artist will be established, through a business structure. Just dropping a little advice about the things that we're learning along the way, holla!

Okay so from the last blog you heard that G.S.M. is going to meet with two major record labels on August 2nd. This is how we're prepping for the meeting that could take us to the next level where we wanna be. Right now we are preparing a PowerPoint presentation to let them know of all the things that we have accomplished as unsigned artists. We're going to show them our DVD footage of when we won MTV's Get Out the Song Battle where we have great candid moments with the members and Suchin Pak. Also our recap book will have very good strength by archiving all of our shows and e-mails sent out for fans to recieve. Next we'll have our new Grey't EX-Pectations CD featuring the new hit song 'Lose You' that should wow them. Next we will show them the marketing plan that our research department compiled for us to show how we plan to sell records and gain exposure at the same time. So everyone in SiTV land keep your fingers crossed for us when we present to them, we're trying to make it real official!

    Peace, G.S.M.

    Million Dollar Hustle

Yo G.S.M. in this lesson will teach you how to raise $5,000 in less than 7 days to get your career where you want it to be, in front of major labels.

    1. Find the right company that can give you this opportunity, make sure their reputation isn't actually all smoke and mirrors.

    2. Get your freshest new demo off of the press and be ready to present it to the labels.

    3. Ask everybody you can for money and insure them a return on investment.

    4. If everybody says no, still ask more people to get the money.

    5. Book flights after meetings are scheduled and have adequate housing in NYC.

= August 2nd, 2 major label meetings in one day, that's how we would do it, what are you people in SiTV out there willing to give to get what you want, let us know what drives you.

    Peace, G.S.M.

    Battle of the Bands Twist!

Okay check this out yesterday we were lined up for a battle of the bands to compete against three other bands for a cash prize. So our adrenaline is pumping and we're waiting for the day to come where we can beat these bands and get the cash prize. So the day before the manager Chris calls me it seems that the bands all canceled. One drummer from a band up and quit the day before the performance, and another band simply couldn't fulfill their jobs as musicians because of vacation, lame. Well we here at G.S.M. would like to think that they all got afraid and knew that they would lose anyway, not cocky, confident. So in the end we ended up just rocking out and doing our one hour set, and on top of that win all of the prize money, yay! Sometimes things happen for a reason, good job other bands for not wasting your time and talent….just kidding.

    Studio Strategy

Okay tomorrow we go into the studio and if you ever find yourself in this situation with a band this is how we do things. We have already laid down the drums and bass guitar to a click track, which is a metronome. Timing is everything in the beginning stages because if one thing is off it can ruin your whole recording project, unless your engineer knows how to edit it, but over here we like to get it right. Our guitarist will start off the day tomorrow by recording two passes of his guitar on two different guitars, and electric acoustic and electric guitar to blend the two sounds. After he's done it's up to Dub-T and Jessica to record the vocals with layers and skill. Doubles in vocals are important or overdubs because they make the song feel full and gives better sound quality, we'll be back soon to let you hear the tracks and tell you how it goes!

Q: If you record a vocal and then double it by copying and pasting through your recording program what is the misconception that most people think happens?
