Who Is Esteban Ochocinco?POSTED August, 21 2009 ![]() Does Chad Ochocinco love Latinos so much he wants to be one? First, the Bengals wide receiver drops Johnson in favor of the “Spanish”-version of eighty-five and now his first name might be up for re-translation…or something. That’s right, following last night’s preseason game against the Patriots, Scorecard’s favorite honorary Latino started referring to himself as Esteban Ochocinco. The name change came about after Ocho nailed a point-after-attempt while subbing in for injured Bengals’ kicker Shayne Graham. In the post-game interview, along with the Esteban drop, Chad praised futbol (not futbol americano) as his favorite sport. "'Esteban' Ochocinco is back, the most interesting footballer in the world," Ochocinco said. "Everyone has to remember, I've always said that soccer is my No. 1 sport. I think Ronaldinho would be proud of me right now."
C.O. followed up the football comment by showing off a picture of himself with LA Galaxy star David Beckham.
"Soccer's my first love, Kicking's easy ... like riding a bike," he said. "I can kick them from 50, 60 yards, left or right hash mark. ... I kicked all through high school."
The guy “changes” his first and last name and adopts the favorite pastime of Central/South America. Can we just drop the honorary tag and make Esteban Ochocinco a full-blown Latino?
