[REVIEW] Okami (Wii) - One of the best games on the WiiPOSTED May, 09 2008 ![]() When Playstation 2 was gearing up to call it quits making way for the Playstation 3, Capcom released one more title for it called Okami. In the game you play as a wolf who is a sun goddess named Amaterasu. You've been asleep for about 100 years and you've been awakened to save the ancient world of Nippon from an oncoming evil force. Now the great game is on the Wii. The great thing about Okami was the design and presentation. The graphics are cel-shaded making it look like you're actually playing classic painting. It's absolutely stunning to look at. The animations are decent as well and you'll find yourself jumping and running around just to enjoy the view.
Of course with the Wii the controlling is a bit different than with the PS2. The wolf's movement if controlled by using the analog stick and the dives and attacks are put into motion using the Wii remote. In addition to the general movements and attacks, you also get to use the Wii controls for the Celestial Brush. This brush allows you to paint figures in the stars in order to gain new powers and moves for your character. It's also used during battles and running around the universe by slashing through enemies, blooming dead trees with a circle motion, or drawing bombs. The Wii remote makes the experience a lot more fun than it was on the PS2, which seemed a bit tedious. Other than the controls, the game is basically the same as it was on PS2. It's the same story, same upgrades and health options and the same breathtaking scenery. If you never got to play the PS2 version of the game, make sure to cop the Wii version. Not only is it a better experience than the PS2 version, but it's also one of the best game on the Wii. Consider it a must-have title.
