Andre Berto vs. Chad Ochocinco?

OK fight fans, try and contain yourself but we may have a once-in-a-lifetime bout in the works. The potential match features WBC Welterweight champion Andre Berto squaring off against…Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Ochocinco? Wow, so much Ochocinco in the news lately, but it’s true, Scorecard’s official honorary Latino issued a challenge to Berto through the press, and let’s just say the reigning champ didn’t exactly back down. So what gives Chad the cojones to call out a professional fighter? Well, along with working on his kicking game, “Esteban” also spent part of his off-season training in boxing gyms.

Here’s the juicy part of Ochocinco’s trash-talk:

“So when I get in the ring and knock-out Berto, and people are like, ‘I didn’t know Chad could fight’…I just told you.”

And Berto’s response (which includes an amazingly subtle dig about the Bengals missing the postseason):

“I’m here to say that when his season is over, which should be before the playoffs start, I’ll give him the beating of his life and show him the difference between kicking footballs and getting your ass kicked. By the time I’m done with him, he’ll need to change his last name to No Mas.”

First, Ochocinco starts booting extra points and calling himself “Esteban”, and now he decides to talk smack to champion boxers! Like I said before, can we just drop the “honorary” tag and make Chad a card-carrying Latino? Honestly, Marc Anthony has a better chance of vetoing a Bill Parcells’ decision on draft day than we have of seeing Berto and Ocho actually stepping into the ring together. Who cares, you gotta love some good-natured trash talking between two world-class athletes...but if the fight did go off, does a tale-of-the-tape get any more intriguing than the following:

Andre Berto
Hometown: Miami, Florida
Height: 5’8.5”
Record: 26-0 / 19 KO
Berto's Greatest Hits:

Chad “Esteban” Ochocinco
Hometown: Miami, Florida
Height: 6’1”
Record: N/A
