Blame it on the Puerquito!POSTED April, 24 2009 ![]() A new strain of the swine flu has killed up to 60 people in Mexico and 8 here in the US. Mexico is also reporting more than 1,000 suspected cases. Most of the victims in Mexico have been young, healthy adults. Classes have been cancelled in Mexico City schools to help contain the illness. The Center for Disease Control has not issued warnings discouraging Americans from travelling to Mexico, but this incident with the swine flu will likely impact tourism, as has the drug war violence. Fortunately, this strain of the swine flu responds to medicines that are available. At this point, the cases of the swine flu identified here in the US are cases where the patients have not had contact with pigs. It seems to be human-to-human contact that is spreading the flu virus currently. |
