Models and rappers go together like Joan Rivers and plastic surgery—they’re always on each other but the results are mixed at best. The ladies from the first season of our show Model Latina haven’t been immune to the carnivorous predator known as the rapper (Latin version is el reggaetonero). Below is a compilation of ML contestants in music videos. Enjoy!
Uno,
Jesus
Belkys Galvez in Baby Boy’s “Ya No Llores”
I’m a Belkys supporter but I won’t support this video for “Ya No Llores”—it’s straight cheesebolas! Even though it’s nominated for a Premio Lo Nuestro (for Urban Song of the Year), Baby Boy’s voice just makes my habichuelas shrink.
Jessica Caban, Darlenis Duran, Linda Moreno, Mishell Livio, Victoria Ortiz in Veze Skante’s “Cover Girl”
I never heard of dude or his Will Smith-look-alike with dreadlocks sidekick. Yet, the song was like everything else you heard on the radio last year (ehh), but it was exceptionally shot (word to director Jesse Terrero).
Victoria Ortiz & Jessica Perez in Capone-N-Noreaga’s “Rotate”
Props are due for a) landing in a Rik Cordero-directed (rap video director of the moment) CNN video and b) for not being portrayed as a piece of meat. Bravo chicas!
Dariany Santana in John Brown’s (gag) “Sarah Palin (I Wanna Lay Pipe)”
We’ll chalk this one up to age…Dariany was the youngest ML contestant and it showed when she signed on to do this clip. Portraying a dimwitted politician—one strike; being the lead in a VH1 White Rapper Show reject’s video —two strikes; did I mention she played Sarah Palin—three strikes. You’re out!
Leyicet Peralta in Eloy’s “Para El Amor No Hay Edad”
This kid Eloy is like a mix of Xtreme, Menudo and helium. I get it, he’s trying to bag a cougar…Leyicet plays it cool for the most part but s**t could you resist Eloy’s moves? Yeah, probably.
Girls, Girls, Girls!! brush your shoulders off & let this go. We all know it's you on these comments...your too beautiful & talented to be tearing each other apart. Imagine how powerful you'd be if you worked together and put your petty differences aside. Being on a reality show can be a traumatizing and emotionally polarizing experience...don't let it get the best of you young ladies. Stop advertising yourselves and spreading negativity. The only ones really watching these comments are those involved in the show...think about it
