Latin music is just as diverse as us Latinos. For example look at the artists performing at MySpace Latino & Remezcla.com’s En Tu Ciudad Tour—Very Be Careful, La Santa Cecilia (pictured above), Wait.Think.Fast., and Mucho DJs. Coño, their names alone are eclectic. Wait until you see them perform at Downtown L.A.’s La Cita Bar next week (7/1). Go here for more info.
If you love indie, bilingual music this is the performance you need to catch. Speaking of worldly music, y’all need to check out this new documentary, Estilo Hip Hop, which airs this Sunday (6/25) on PBS World. The doc is actually co-directed/co-produced by a former co-worker of mine, Virgilio Bravo. VB and I edited a mag a couple of years ago and it’s great to see his labor of love come to fruition. Estilo follows three hip-hop artists in Cuba, Chile, and Brazil, respectively. All three artists use their music as a form of social activism. Check out the Estilo trailer below as well as an interview Styleyes did with Bravo when we were toiling in the publishing industry.
