Artwork for JERU THE DAMAJA's New Album - STILL RISING

Jeru the Damaja always brings me back to the beginning of my career. I have worked on all of his albums and directed his monumental video “Can't Stop the Prophet”, (You can see it below). He just released his lastest album "Still Rising" (available in stores and itunes) under his own label “Ashenafi Records” and it's getting great reviews. So for this one, I had to gather the troops and colabo again with my partner in art “The 20 K dollar Kid” Mr. Christian Cortes.

We decided to create a surreal world and draw from that moment in history when African American athlete John Carlos raised his fist after winning the gold medal in the Summer Olympics of 1968. A sign of protest of what was going on here in the good old U.S. of A.

The cover is a mixed medium of my photography and Chris' artwork and it's all digital. Well, not all digital, Chris draws on paper, and then colors on Photoshop and Illustrator, at least we are holding on to traditional techniques like drawing on paper. Wait till they come out with digital sketch book, it's a wrap for paper, lol.

We brought back some of the characters from the “Can’t Stop the Prophet” Music Video like Mr. Ignorance, Jealousy, Hatred, Envy, Deceit, and of course Corrupted Cops. Check it out.
