2008 Latin Rap Conference - November 18-21, Los Angeles CA

LATIN RAP CONFERENCE 2008

The Latin Rap Conference is the only major music industry convention focusing specifically on the growth, education and empowerment of the Latino Hip-Hop genre (including Reggaeton music). It has become the forum for The Latin Rap Coalition Board of Directors, a group comprised of the genre's top music executives, professionals, artists, and radio personalities, to discuss and take action towards the goals of positive change and Latino community outreach from the music industry. LRC is not a separatist movement, but rather a sub-culture explosion happening from within the enormous umbrella that is Hip-Hop.

The overall mission of Latin Rap Conference (LRC) is to educate, empower and create a forum and network for high-quality business and market progress. Our goal is to continue the movement towards the advancement and solidarity of Latino people in the Music Industry and in all aspects of today's global economy. Furthermore, this international forum for Latino music professionals has strengthened our ability to unify artists and companies in an effort to promote positive images in the media for Latino youth. Strong Latino role models are essential to the education and guidance of young people. We aim to move, touch, and inspire through the powerful tool that is music.

Past LRC events have left much to write about for Billboard, Newsday, Univision, The New York Post, Allhiphop.com, Vibe.com, Brownpride.com, Hispanic Business, Migente.com and other major publications, as they have all covered our conventions. However, the biggest highlight of our 2005 conference occurred when we received a proclamation from New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg, declaring Sept. 19-20 Official Latin Rap Conference Days in New York City.

In front of a packed venue, Elizabeth Caldas, executive director of the NYC Latin Media & Entertainment Commission, read from the proclamation that stated, "New York City is proud to host the third edition of the Latin Rap Conference...Such amazing turnout is testament to the great commercial and artistic potential of this music..."

Subsequently, LRC returned to New York for 2006 and celebrated a fourth successful event, enabling us to donate show proceeds to victims of Hurricane Katrina and other charitable causes, a practice we continue to this day. We were also honored to have a very special President's Panel at this conference, with guests Craig Kallman, CEO of Atlantic Records, Steve Rifkind, CEO of SRC and founder of Loud Records, Kevin Lawrie, President of Sony BMG and Gus Lopez, President of Machete Music.

LRC 2007 was held in Los Angeles and made history as well, bringing together West Coast Hip-Hop legends Mellow Man Ace, Kid Frost, A Lighter Shade of Brown and Cypress Hill for a stunning tribute and awards presentation. This event was covered and supported by major television networks Univision, Telemundo (mun2), MTVTr3s, LATV, SiTV and many more.

Now, we are proud to announce that for 2008, the 6th Latin Rap Conference is returning to Los Angeles for our biggest and most powerful event to date. We will make history with the first ever Latin Hip-Hop Awards Show. This unprecedented show will include special guest appearances and live performances and tributes as well as awards presentations and educational vignettes, including a short film on the history of Latinos in Hip-Hop music.

We will also have our usual seminar discussions and panel forums throughout the days of the conference, keeping our winning format alive and strong. These informative and compelling seminars, including discussions on radio, videos and television, Internet marketing and promotions, publishing, etc., have had a tremendous impact on the music industry. For 2008, we are bringing in some major players from the music world, as panelists and guest speakers, to raise the bar even higher and make LRC the premier event for the Hip-Hop industry.

There is no other event on the planet like Latin Rap Conference. Join the international coalition. Be a part of history. Experience Latin Rap Conference!

Hmm. I can't picture the panel sessions. But sounds like a good effort. Rap needs reviving.
