Runway Finale Recap: Part I
POSTED October, 12 2009 The final two were so excited they couldn’t stop screaming, jumping, and exclaiming ‘Oh my God!’ throughout the episode. Codie and Christine finally calmed down enough to have breakfast with Q Management owner Jeffrey Kolsrud.
“I was happy to leave the house,” Codie said. “It’s just one step closer to being Model Latina.”
Christine said: “Jeffrey’s a big deal. This could…is going to be my boss.”
Jeffrey schooled them on the bad side of modeling; as you can imagine it’s not all glitz and glam. “You’re going to be on a job and another model will try and sabotage you to the client, photographer, makeup,” he said. “You have to be the bigger person.”
After the much needed reality check, the girls got their final assignment. They have 36 hours to produce a professional fashion show! They must meet with their designer, cast models, pick the music, etc. I got stressed just thinking about it!
Who better to help than last year’s winner Jessica Caban? She surprised Codie and Christine and offered tips on how to rock the runway. One word: itinerary!
Before the girls got down to business, Jessica handed them keys to a presidential suite where some little helpers were waiting— Zuleyka, Melissa, Yanez and Jocelyn! Jessica helped Codie and Christine pick teams and decide who would walk and who would be their assistant at the fashion show.
TEAM CODIE:
Production Assistant: Jocelyn
Model: Zuleyka
TEAM CHRISTINE:
Production Assistant: Yanez
Model: Melissa
They met with their designer Anel Verna, who offered two very different looks. One was New York inspired (black, lacy, professional) and the other was way more Miami (sexy, bright pieces). It’s pretty obvious who chose what. Christine opted for the NY look and Codie chose the more tropical vibe. Both teams took producing the show very seriously, but the designer said Christine was more strategic.

Both are amazing women: very different in their styles and each will represent Latinas in a very positive way. Codie will do it via Model Latina and Christine will have many doors opening for her too as a result of her participation.
It is too bad that the postings are so divided and hateful in many instances; typical of our culture, instead of supporting these two incredibly beautiful women who put themselves in the public eye and scrutiny. Not an easy feat.
So, regardless of who the official winner is, we will be hearing much from both on their successes. I wish them both the best!
