The Perfect 4th of July OutfitPOSTED July, 02 2009 ![]() It's summertime and you all know what that means: less clothing. This doesn't mean you have to dress like a hoochie—but if you do, more power to you—what it does mean though is that you get to take advantage of all the options summer wear affords: shorts, dresses, tank tops, sandals, hats and swimsuits. The 4th of July is the perfect time to bust out your cutest summer outfits for that backyard BBQ or block party. Chicana Style has some suggestions that suit any event you may get into this 4th. FOR THE LADIES: Cute & Comfortable: Wear a basic T-shirt, ribbed tank top, or screen printed V-neck with jean shorts and sandals.
Fun & Flirty: The best way to look your best without trying too hard is slipping into a lightweight cotton dress. It's all about flower prints and color this summer. Paired with flats or sandals this look is relaxed and fashionable.
If you're gunna do red, white and blue, do it right (above right). Romper Room: Although these things make doing simple tasks like going to the bathroom a little harder, it's worth it when you look this cute.
Swimsuit Mania: Yes, it's scary getting into these, but forget about looking flawless. It's all about how you feel. Below, a model (who has nothing to hide, but demonstrates my point) covers up with a jacket and makes her legs even longer with heels. Plus, fedoras are back in a big way! Instant cool.
FOR THE FELLAS: Men have it easy. They don't have to wear awkward one pieces or barely there bikinis. They can just throw on a pair of shorts, shades, and a hat and they're fly. A lightweight collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up is a more pulled-together option.
