Summer Lovin'-Movie StylePOSTED May, 20 2009 ![]() I love movies. I like the big comfy seats and eating popcorn and candy (except for the jacked up prices). And I am looking forward to one movie in particular that is coming out this summer. There are two reasons I’m looking forward to this movie: Depp and Bale. Mmmmmm, Johnny Depp, my dream man and Christian Bale, (who is in my top 6 or 7) are teaming up in “Public Enemies.” Public Enemies is the story of famous Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger, played by Johnny Depp. Bale plays an FBI agent trying to bring Dillinger down. The trailer for the movie is really good, the boys look great in 1930’s clothing, and let’s face it, cops and robbers movies are almost always fun.
Actually though, I don’t even care what the movie is about; I would watch it anyway. It could be a live action version of Terrence and Phillip from South Park where all they do is fart and I would still watch it. If Johnny and Christian just stared at the camera for 2 hours and didn’t utter a word I would still pay my $11.50 to watch it. If they made out with each other for the entirety of the movie even then I would watch it! Basically what I’m saying is I love these two guys. And it isn’t because they are both so damn hot. These two actors have acting chops unlike many others in Hollywood who are that good looking, except for Brad Pitt -who is fabulous.
I will have a difficult time not imagining myself as the filing to a Johnny and Christian sandwich but I think I can concentrate for 2 hours. There are also a couple other movies that look really good too. My first pick is “Land of the Lost,” a loose remake of the 70’s Sid and Mary Krofft show that I spent every Saturday morning watching. Will Ferrell stars as Dr. Rick Marshall who gets sucked into a space-time vortex where Slestak, Grumpy the T-Rex and giant strawberries abound. Anyone who grew up in the 70’s, or is just nostalgic will love this movie.
My other pick is “Bruno.” Sacha Baron Cohen is back as a flamboyant Austrian model who travels across America to find himself. Sacha once again sets up celebs and innocent people alike. It looks hilarious…and he names his adopted baby son O.J. Come on, what could be funnier?
Sure, there are a bunch of big budget shoot em up movies but I tend to like either comedies or foreign flicks. But my number one pick is obviously the saliva inducing Johhny Depp/Christian Bale “Public Enemies.” Go support them because I want this movie to make a lot of money to prove what fantastic actors they are. Oh wait, but don’t go opening weekend because I’ll be there and I hate when people sit next to me and talk in the theater. But that is another issue.
