Actor/Director/Producer Joins the UWA
The "Oscars" of the Auto Industry

On January 15, at the famed Fox Theatre in Detroit acclaimed actress Rosie Perez will co-host one of the auto industry's biggest events--The 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards (UWA). Considered the Academy Awards of the car industry whose theme this year is “Fashion, Stars and Cars”, Ms. Perez joins a long line of distinguished co-hosts who have graced the UWA stage.

The UWA honors pioneering automotive Industry leaders who transcend the mainstream and embrace diversity to create products and services that appeal to a larger customer base. This star-studded, fashion-conscious, car-savvy audience will be treated to an evening extravaganza the likes of which they have never before experienced. This is the only awards forum that recognizes the top African American, Asian and Latino executives in the automotive and ancillary industries.

There will be top-notch entertainment, industry leaders and Hollywood stars presenting the UWA awards to the winners in the 12 categories. Surrounded by the ambiance of the Fox theatre, known for the numerous stars that have graced its stage, the UWA is an event like none other.

So it is only fitting that Ms. Perez will co-host the festivities for 2008. She has been an entertainment trailblazer--having made her feature film acting debut in Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, Ms. Perez went on to earn an Oscar nomination for the film Fearless, which she co-starred with Jeff Bridges. She has also choreographed music videos for everyone from Bobby Brown to Diana Ross. She was the choreographer for the dancing group, the Fly Girls on the hit TV show "In Loving Color."

In addition, she had produced a number of film and television projects, such as the 2006 film “Yo Soy Boricua! Pa' Que Tu Lo Sepas!” (I'm Puerto Rican, Just So You Know!). Ms. Perez also works diligently to help improve social conditions within the United States, as she has fought for various Puerto Rican causes as well as AIDS awareness campaigning.

The 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards will be presented during Press Week in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The NAIAS in 2007 had over 90 internationally-sanctioned exhibitors and added more than $500 million to the metro Detroit region last year alone. Celebrating its 20th year as an international show, the NAIAS is one of the longest running auto shows in the country. We are proud of the stature and recognition the show has received and it is truly an honor to be ranked among the premier international auto shows of the world - Frankfurt, Geneva, Paris and Tokyo.
