Friendship= $119.99????POSTED December, 21 2007 ![]() So crazy time is here!! the last few days before las pascuas, navidad and then we got the reyes magos. Shopping maddness at its best. I thought i had seen everything, but then... i was out today trying to buy some gifts for las niñas and we go to the land of " i don't wanna grow up" aka Toys R Us. While we are there i am looking around looking for what NOT to buy and then i see this thing that scared me bien feo. A life size dora doll. no joke.
now this doll stands about 3 feet tall. That is the size of an average 4 year old ( if you look closely at the bottom right, you see a lil girl coming dora's hair. use if for size comparison). Now, imagine been a small kid and you get this doll, i would be a bit intimidated, having this plastic thing that is as big as me be my "friend." But thats not what tripped me out. The crazy thing is that this thing talks! ( insert flasbacks of the first chuckie movie).
At the time i was wondering, who seriously pays for one? especially when the price for this doll is $119.99!
i seriously was thinking that it had to be a sick joke, that much money for a doll that will probably only be used for a couple of weeks and then forgotten. I mean if you can swing to pay tha kinda money for 1 present, go for it! But i never really thought that a child's social interaction be replaced by doll like this. Pretty much its friendship on sale.I mean a relationship with one's toy is important, it helps the imagination. but one with other kids is more important. In fact its essential. I was told that friendship had no price. But Kids R Us begs to differ, and it feels that the right price for that relationship should be $119.99.
what are your thoughts?

Wow. Well as time goes by, kids no longer play out in the streets. Not many kids get to socialize with other children as much. I remember playing out in the rain. I can see parents who are extremely protective buy their child something like this...or someone who is trying to get their child to learn Spanish, if the doll is bilingual. It is scary though and the price is crazy.

Hey I also like the gear.
